Effect of Bathymetric changes on Water-level variation in estuaries

Impact of River Bed Changes on Estuary Water Levels

Md Nurul KadirLead: Md Nurul Kadir
Counselors: Jorge Lorenzo-Trueba, Thomas Wahl

This project explores how changes to the estuarine bathymetry, or underwater topography, affect flood hazards like storm surge and sea level changes in the MACH region. This will be done by exploring patterns of erosion and deposition to better understand sediment flow changes and how these changes may account for the water discharge variations from the estuary. Understanding these patterns will help quantify the complex interplay between water levels due to storm surges, sediment transport, and bathymetric changes to support ongoing efforts to improve flood-hazard assessments and understand long-term estuary resilience in the MACH region.
