This study investigates historical spatial and structural changes in the Delaware River Estuary to better understand if and how much the estuary’s tidal waters have been impacted. The research focuses on the relationship between estuarine channel modifications, such as widening and deepening due to activities like dredging or shore hardening, and increasing tidal water ranges over the past century (from 1881 to the present). By integrating historical maps, digitized bathymetric data, and numerical modeling, the study aims to quantify and model these changes to better understand their implications for flood hazards.
