Insurance innovation pilot in Eastwick, Philadelphia

MACH  a Phase 1 scoping exercise, examining the viability of emerging innovative models and their applicability to supporting more equitable flood recoveries in Eastwick. Through a review of existing research and policy analysis, analysis of existing city survey data, conversations with local partners about existing recovery gaps, review of relevant disaster program and insurance data, discussions with potential insurer partners (as well as regulators and brokers), the team analyzed a menu of innovative approaches that could be feasible and potentially impactful in Eastwick. The team is now undertaking an initial evaluation of the options across the following metrics: interaction with existing policies and programs, effectiveness, cost, sustainability over time, administrative burden, and needed partners. The team will be writing up an issue brief on findings from this investigation.
